Anna Smirnova, the CEO of Eyezz.com, was forced to launch her eyewear startup under very abnormal circumstances. Her mother was diagnosed with a horrible life altering disease: multiple myeloma – cord blood cancer. This misfortune ruined her family life and left an intolerable scar inside of her heart.
For almost 5 years, Anna had to make many life-changing decisions to fight for her mother’s life. She drained her family’s budget and friend’s savings, including credit cards to pay for anticancer treatments.
While desperate for money, she convinced several random investors to fund her eyewear start-up. Later it would become an official Luxottica distributor working with hundreds of top eyewear brands. This endeavor helped Anna’s family to pay for her mother’s treatments, which, regretfully, had no positive result.
